Complications After Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation and breast lift in Thailand has been recognized as one of the safest kind of plastic surgery globally because of a large number of satisfied patients according to surveys. Breast augmentation in Thailand deals with altering the size and shape of breast in order to have an improved or enhanced appearance while breast lift in Thailand deals with refining the contour of the breast by removing excess skin and lifting the breast to become more firm.

Even if there is a large number of successful patients who have undergone breast augmentation in Thailand, there are still serious risks that each patient should know.

Capsular Contracture - this kind of complication happens when there is an abnormal response of the immune system to the type of synthetic implant that was used in the breast augmentation. Scar tissues or what they normally call capsule develops around the implant that might be caused by bacterial contamination, leakage of the silicone gel filling, or if the breast implant shell burst out. When the capsule contracts, it can lead to serious pain, discomfort, breast hardening and it could even result to breast distortion. Most of the time, patients who are experiencing capsular contracture needs to have another set of corrective surgery. Plastic surgeons will perform capsulatomy to either loosen up the capsule or totally removed the capsule. Since the immune system is involved, there is a possibility of reoccurrence of capsular contracture even after the corrective surgery. 

Infection - this a common type of complication in any kind of surgery. Breast augmentation and breast lift in Thailand is not exempted. You have to take note that infections usually occur after breast augmentation or breast lift in Thailand if patients are careless in taking care of the area where incisions have been made. Plastic surgeons advised to maintain proper hygiene in the incision area and not to use any kind of irritant fluids or applications such as deodorants and lotions. If the incisions are still on the process of healing, avoid water submerging as much as possible. Infections cause rashes, tenderness and redness of the breast. Once you notice signs of infections, contact your plastic surgeon right away.

Hematoma – this is sometimes called blood clot or also called bruising. Hematoma may lead to serious complications after the surgery and surgeons might need to draw off or drain the accumulation of blood for faster healing; however, surgeons must be very careful draining the accumulated blood not affecting the implant.
